Freezer Hack

Here's an easy way to know if the items in your freezer have thawed when you've been out of town.  It's particularly difficult to know if everything refreezes.  Fill a small jar most of the way with water, let it freeze solid, and lay a coin on top.  If you come home and the coin is at the bottom of the jar, you know you've had an outage and probably need to through everything out.
