After being annoyed one too many times by Alexa boop-booping a notification that turns out to be some deal they hope to entice me with, I found how to turn them off, which is explained at the link below. It took about a day before the new settings, shown in the screenshot below, took effect, which was a bit surprising, but since that delay my Alexas (I'm embarrassed to tell you how many we have), have behaved themselves.
