I don't believe the Kettering police car parked outside Meijer was just there to enjoy an afternoon donut as we've noticed this practice on many occasions. Our guess is that theft is becoming more of an issue and the possibility of an immediate police response would be a hefty deterrent to would-be shoplifters. Just knowing a police car might show up at any moment should give them pause. Our hats off to the Kettering police for this new tactic.
